If you want to fully understand the glory of native Hawaiian culture & history, you must go to the Bishop. Our docent, who was Hawaiian, taught us so much about the Hawaiian royal family & with that about traditional Hawaiian culture, so that we came away with a deeper appreciation of the original Hawaiians. It was a joy to learn about the complexity of their religion, knowledge of astronomy & sailing the Pacific, how they used native plants, e.g. tree bark, reeds, & leaves, to weave sails & make clothing, & even the significance of island tatoos. Would've loved more time at the Bishop but it was our last day on outstanding Oahu. Will happily return.
