Black Cat Historical Day Tour

Overview
Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War.  We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history.  From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

We had originally booked the historic day tour but arrived into town late due to traffic and flight delays. Someone called us from Black Cat tours when we did not show up at 2:00 and offered to help with directions. When I explained we were not going to make it, he offered to book us for the 8:00 night tour. I felt that was above and beyond what he was required to do and we so appreciated it. The tour was fun and Olivia was beautiful, funny, and very knowledgeable. We had a great time! Thank you Black Cat Tours!

Fantastic tour with Daniel. Wind and pouring rain had no effect on his enthusiasm or the quality of the tour. As a group of historians, we were particularly impressed with Daniel's wide-ranging knowledge on all things Salem and his ability to answer any question that came his way. He also very kindly offered to rebook any tours, free of charge, given the inclement weather. If you're looking for a historical tour of Salem, you can't go wrong booking with Black Cat tours!

Jeff was our guide on this very interesting tour. My husband and I went with another couple and it was super fun! It was full of haunted history, Salem trivia, history and fun. We stopped at many sights which were points of interest. The tour group size was smaller than some of the other tours we saw that were very large groups. This made it a little more personalized. Jeff was a great tour guide. He spoke up loud and slowly enough to make sure that we all could hear and understand him. We've been on other tours where the guide rushed through everything and we missed half of what they said. Jeff was a great story teller and you could tell that he is passionate about Salem and wants to share his passion with his guests. He told us about some very interesting and fascinating stories. The tour had the perfect haunted feel for an October night in Salem. We ended the tour at the Old Burial Point and Witch Trial Memorial. Just as we got there the wind kicked up and it started to rain a little which was a great addition to the mood.
