Black Cat Historical Day Tour

Overview
Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War.  We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history.  From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

Our guide, Daniel, really know the area and had many interesting tales to tell. He was well spoken and really looked the colonial part. As a caution to first time visitors, this tour is best done after you have visited some of the major sites, as it does not include the house of the seven gables, the customs house or the site of the hangings.

Thank you so much for your review! We are so glad that you had a good time. To reply to your comment about the sites we visit, tours are not allowed to visit Proctor's Ledge, the site of the hangings, and that is over two miles away from The House of Seven Gables and the Customs House. We limit our tour to a mile walk for the comfort of our guests, but have taken tours down to the Waterfront when the Friendship is in dock, or for private tours asking for a focus on maritime history. No generalized walking tour of Salem includes the stops you have mentioned.

My husband and I along with our dog Koji went on the 8pm tour on Saturday. Our guide Daniel was very informative and captivating as he led us around to some of Salem's spectral haunted sites. We enjoyed the tour very much and would highly recommend Salem Black Cat Tours. We did not see any ghosts, but maybe Koji did.....

I read a lot of reviews before choosing a tour so figured I should write one as well. We toured at 8 pm on a Sunday. We saw several other large tours underway. Ours was a much smaller group which we loved because it was easy to hear and more personable. Our guide Jeff was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Did a nice job sharing history and ghost stories. He got the attention of my 12 yr old and 14 yr old, which is no easy feat. Highly recommend!
