Black Cat Historical Day Tour

Overview
Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War.  We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history.  From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

Our tour guide was VERY knowledgeable and friendly. It’s a long tour but actually only a short distance so if you don’t want to walk too far, it’s great.

I took a tour with Black Cat on a beautiful spring afternoon in Salem with my 12 year old daughter. We had a lovely time and felt like we learned such alot. Our guide did such a good job of bringing the history to life, I really felt immersed in the stories. There was a wonderful flow to the tour. I will be making a point to come back and do a ghost tour with this company in the fall.

I've only been to Salem a handful of times and never really fully understood its history. On Halloween day, my friend and I decided to dive headfirst into it and make the drive into Salem knowing how bad traffic would be, but hoping it would be worth it since we booked with Black Cat Tours and saw how many great reviews there were. We were glad they were right! Dan was our guide and he was entertaining, knowledgeable, and kept everyone engaged. He was also able to answer questions that were thrown at him about buildings, myths, and facts along the way that weren't part of the tour. Really shows he knows his stuff about the city! I had no idea how much Salem had so many ties in history outside of the witch trials. We absolutely had an awesome time and can't recommend Black Cat Tours enough. It was so good, I had to figure out how to log back into my TripAdvisor account just to leave a review. Go check it out for yourself!
