Black Cat Historical Day Tour

Overview

Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War. We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history. From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

What To Expect

Salem Black Cat Tours

Your guide will meet you at the Axelrod Walkway park at 28 Charter Street, next to the Peabody Essex Museum, located across the street from the Witchcraft Trials Memorial and Old Burying Point Cemetery Welcome Center.

In a city like Salem, you may be tempted to pass up paying for a tour when you could do a self-guided one for free. In this case, however, you would be doing yourself a great disservice. Our tour guide, Daniel, gave the best tour I’ve ever been on. He was extremely knowledgeable, witty, and clearly very passionate about what he does. On top of that, Daniel was happy to personalize the tour, not only answering all the questions we had, but offering to take us to any points of interest not on the main tour route that we might want to know more about. The tour, and Daniel, are truly one-of-a-kind!

This was our first visit to Salem. We booked the evening ghost/history tour with Black Cat based on other reviews. We were not disappointed at all! Daniel was right on time, very engaging, and very well versed in local history and legends. It was clear from the beginning of the tour that Daniel has a passion for the area. Not only did he keep it entertaining and ghostly enough that my 14 yr amateur paranormal investigator stayed enthusiastically involved but there was the perfect amount of history to satisfy my history buff husband. Highly recommend this company! Definitely planning a return trip that will include another tour. Thanks for a great time!!
