Black Cat Historical Day Tour

Overview
Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War.  We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history.  From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

We did the 8pm Night Tour and had a great time despite the rain. The tour takes you around and tells you some of the history as well as legends and poltergeist sightings. The tour guide was excellent and provides plenty of time to capture pictures and gives you tips of where the best place to look/photograph if you are hoping to catch a sight of a ghost. Highly informative and fun. The guided tours are probably your best bang for your buck in Salem.

My husband and I took this tour on our first trip to Salem. Daniel, our guide, was very enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable of the area. We learned a lot of very interesting things about Salem's history that went way beyond facts and info that you'd find out by visiting the locations on a self-guided tour. We truly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend to anyone that ventures out to Salem! Lots of cool and creepy history in Salem!

This was the first visit to Salem for my husband and me. We did a short tour earlier in the day through the Visitors Center. We wanted to do a night tour with a mix of history and haunting. We chose Black Cat tours based on the reviews and we didn’t chose wrong. We happened to be the only couple for the tour that evening but Daniel made us feel very welcome and answered any questions. His knowledge of Salem history, his personal experiences and his sense of humor made the tour fun, extremely interesting and informative. We learned so much more than we did earlier in the day. He spent almost 2 hours taking us around town and sharing the history of each stop and adding in his own personal experience and stories. Many of the stories showed that he takes the time to further his knowledge and history of Salem. I would highly recommend this tour!
