Overview

Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War. We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history. From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

What To Expect

Salem Black Cat Tours

Your guide will meet you at the Axelrod Walkway park at 28 Charter Street, next to the Peabody Essex Museum, located across the street from the Witchcraft Trials Memorial and Old Burying Point Cemetery Welcome Center.

We went on the tour because of the great ratings but I'm not sure if the guide was having an off night or if it seemed worse because we had already gone on two other tours that were great. The content of the tour was a bit all over the place and we were personally confused by the topics of witches,history, and ghosts being mixed the way they were. If you are looking for mainly history this may not be the tour for you.

This was our second time on the trip. The first time we came, we toured with Daniel in 2014. This time around we toured with Adriana. Adriana was wonderful and has the perfect personality. She was very warm and friendly. We went during peak season, so the group was a bit bigger, but this tour is smaller than other wandering tours, which we 100% loved! It felt more personal and less forced. We enjoyed the wonderful ghost stories and historical sightings. We will definitely be back in again. This tour is an absolute delight!

Took both the day historic tour and the night haunting tour. Both were great. Tour guides were very friendly and extremely knowledgable! Guides used speakers that made it very easy to hear everything they were saying. Saw a lot of other tours that didn't do that. Definitely recommend Black Cat.
