Black Cat Historical Day Tour

Overview
Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War.  We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history.  From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

I’ve done a few tours of Salem; from purely historical to ghost and supernatural focused, and this one was a good blend of both. Not sure if the day tour is more historical, but my husband and I did the night Ghost Tour with Daniel, who was very knowledgeable and easy to listen to and follow as we wandered about the town at night. I enjoy how all the tours seem to touch on different aspects of the town, so would definitely recommend doing more than one - you’ll get some duplicate info but it’s fascinating to hear the different stories each tour shares! I especially enjoyed the blend of spooky and factual with this one - for most of the locations we visited Daniel would start with the history and end with some of the local legends surrounding that specific place and how it relates. The creepiest I thought was the backyard/lot of St Peter’s Church, which is actually the graveyard...go spend some time with Daniel and he’ll tell you the whole tale!!

I booked a ghost tour with Black Cat Tours the Saturday before Halloween, so basically the busiest day of the year for Salem. Although the streets were ridiculously crowded, we still had a great time! I found our tour guide very confident and well versed in the history of Salem. I also really appreciate their flexibility with unused tickets -- I purchased four tickets for the tour, but two of the people in our party left Salem early, so we had two unused tickets. Black Cat Tours was very nice about the situation and told us that we had the option to use those two tickets towards another tour in the future. Great tour and company!

Best tour we did out of the ones we did in Salem! Daniel was awesome! Great storyteller a lot of detail and history on his tour. It didn't feel long and drawn out like the others. I recommend that you do this tour on your trip to Salem. We had a great time! Thanks Daniel!
