Comb Jelly Bioluminescence Kayak Tour

Overview
In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies congregate in the protected waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Living in the most bio-diverse estuary in North America, Comb Jellies are clear, glob-like creatures that, despite their name, do not sting! So as you paddle the calm waters laced with mangroves and palm trees, you can catch and hold these gentle glowing creatures. They're right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for new and unique experiences.

In addition to the stars, the myriad of protected wildlife around you, and the Comb Jelly’s bioluminescence, their “ribs” are lined with cilia that they use to propel themselves, so when you cast a flashlight on them just right, they’ll also refract a dynamic rainbow-y light show! They’re right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for unique experiences.

Kayaked tonight with some friends with Jayden as the guide. Had such a great time, some bag weather made us head back a little early but we got to see some manatees and dolphins. We got to explore some in the intercostal where we saw the dolphins. Since we didn’t get to see too many jellyfish, he caught a couple to show us. Overall a great experience 10/10 would come back

A fun evening paddling around the lagoon with Chad. We saw a couple of manatees at the boat ramp and then hundreds of birds on bird island. After a beautiful sunset we made our way down a canal to hunt comb jelly. We only saw one but it was cool to see and learn about. After your tour be sure to go down to Beacon 42 to see the stars! Chad was very entertaining, funny and knowledgeable yet kept safety as a priority. Fun and easy activity solo, as a couple, family or group!

I have been on this tour years ago and loved it. This time I was disappointed due to the lack of any bioluminescence organisms. Apparently, it is the wrong time of the year but I did not see that on the website. We did not see any wildlife and basically just paddled in the dark. I felt the tour had too many people and we had to use tandem kayaks which are hard to maneuver if you have never kayaked with your partner before. We made a special effort to be there on time and the directions were perfect, however we had to wait 30-40 mins for the "lost" people to arrive. The guides were wonderful, knowledgeable, and they tried to make it entertaining. I would suggest a call before you go to determine if there are bioluminescent organisms and the size of the tour.
