Comb Jelly Bioluminescence Kayak Tour

Overview
In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies congregate in the protected waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Living in the most bio-diverse estuary in North America, Comb Jellies are clear, glob-like creatures that, despite their name, do not sting! So as you paddle the calm waters laced with mangroves and palm trees, you can catch and hold these gentle glowing creatures. They're right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for new and unique experiences.

In addition to the stars, the myriad of protected wildlife around you, and the Comb Jelly’s bioluminescence, their “ribs” are lined with cilia that they use to propel themselves, so when you cast a flashlight on them just right, they’ll also refract a dynamic rainbow-y light show! They’re right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for unique experiences.

My wife and I went for the 9:30pm tour manatee cove and it was fantastic. Clear kayaks mad the bio apear to be like stars rushing beneath you durring our tour we had a fish jump into the boat as DOLPHINS were chasing them! That was amazing to have a school of dolphins feeding around us making all kinds of bioluminescent reactions. Would recommend the store to anybody who loves the outdoors and has not yet experienced bioluminescence. But also note that you do have to paddle and you are going to get wet and make sure to bring plenty of bug spray to ward off the mosquitoes. Thanks a day away we shall return for another one of your tours!

We joined the Day Away crew on a Saturday evening from 8 to about 10:30. We didn't think we were going to get to go, the storms came in earlier, and roads flooded etc. but we did. It was amazing! We loved seeing the bioillumincense and jellies! Didn't even know there was jellies! LOVED THE GHOST STORY! LOL. My husband is a diver, and he has seen the bio illumincense in the Gulf before, it was a surprise for his birthday! Thank you to the crew, you all were very professional, and protective of all 18 kayaks! We are already spreading the word to others to go!

Our tour guides were outstanding and the kayaking was fun, particularly paddling through the choppy water at night. Hope to take another trip soon!
