Comb Jelly Bioluminescence Kayak Tour

Overview
In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies congregate in the protected waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Living in the most bio-diverse estuary in North America, Comb Jellies are clear, glob-like creatures that, despite their name, do not sting! So as you paddle the calm waters laced with mangroves and palm trees, you can catch and hold these gentle glowing creatures. They're right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for new and unique experiences.

In addition to the stars, the myriad of protected wildlife around you, and the Comb Jelly’s bioluminescence, their “ribs” are lined with cilia that they use to propel themselves, so when you cast a flashlight on them just right, they’ll also refract a dynamic rainbow-y light show! They’re right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for unique experiences.

As a young couple looking for something extra to do on our trip from the UK to Orlando we couldn't have been more impressed! Buddy, our guide, had an incredibly impressive amount of knowledge to offer and managed to answer every question that was asked just about everything, we saw, caught and held several different types of the beautiful Comb Jellies, moving to several locations for maximum exposure and we even saw the Flagellates which are more commonly seen in the summer months! There were also many jumping Mullet fish which provided a giggle or two. Furthermore, it was originally intended that we would take a tandem kayak out onto the Creek, but Buddy was more than happy to switch these out for singles! I felt completely safe in the hands of our guide before, during and after our tour, even with the unpredictable Florida weather serving up a small storm complete with thunder and lightning, Buddy made comprehensive checks to make sure the strikes were outside a 10 mile radius and waited it out at 15 minute intervals if it wasn't quite safe and made no rush to put us on the water if it wasn't okay to do so. On a whole the experience was incredible and if we weren't based so far out from the island we would probably book another daytime excursion during our trip here too! Thoroughly recommend and thank you Buddy for making it so brilliant!

I got to go on this tour as part of a women's retreat and it was the best tour I have ever been on! Brian and his team have a passion for the wildlife encountered on this tour and the fact that they are doing what they love to do shows in every single thing they do. I cannot recommend this tour enough!

I host adventure retreats all across the country, and this single adventure was one of my favorites. Brian and Lindsey were AMAZING. They put together a custom tour for our group of 32 women and we were amazed by the total experience. The sunset tour was complete with a dolphin and manatee, all with the most breathtaking sunset on the water. Then, during our moonlight tour we were delighted by the bio-luminescent jellyfish! WOW!!!!!! Best money I've ever spent for a guided tour ... anywhere! ~ BIG Life
