As well, you'll be accompanied by a guide well-versed in the area History, Flora & Fauna and geologic formation of the Great lakes and Dune formations. Sleeping Bear is fantastic in and of itself, but having a guide to explain everything from the Native Tribes that once roamed the area, to the geologic forces that leave us with the Great Lakes we know today, greatly enhances ours guests visit to Sleeping Bear. Oh, and guests rave about our catered lunch. It's delicious!

Walking is required to access the vista at Empire Bluffs. The trail is designated as "Easy". Expect to walk 1.5 miles over a dirt and sand Trail.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

A guided tour of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Tour includes round trip transportation from Traverse City with snacks and drinks provided. Stops include an easy walk out to Empire Bluffs, Scenic Pierce Stocking Drive, Lake Michigan overlook, Glen Lke overlook, Sleeping Bear Dune overlook, Lunch on the beach in the village of Empire, Dune Climb, Historic Village of Glen Haven and Glen Arbor.

Matt was awesome! He was on time,knowledge, funny, scientifically on time, patient and kind. We learned so many new things about sand dunes and Great Lake hydrology along with wildlife tidbits. Very highly recommend and lunch was killer to boot!

This was my favorite activity while visiting Traverse City on vacation. The tour guide, Matt, was amazing! Extremely knowledgeable, articulate, considerate and fun to spend the day with. If you want to learn history of the area along with geology, fishing, ship wrecks, and other fun facts without the worry of driving this is the trip for you. The dunes are gorgeous!

Matt provided my daughter and I with a wonderful tour of Sleeping Bear Dunes. He provided us with some great historical information and took us on a hike through the Empire Bluffs. We learned a great deal about the Manitou Passage, surrounding areas and visited several small towns in the area. Great lunch and snacks were provided. His knowledge is invaluable and he was a joy to tour with. Best tour guide ever!
