I tagged along as my husband sampled a bunch of Asheville's local brews. What was so rewarding for me was the in-depth history and chemistry of beer-making that Cliff shared with us. An added bonus was learning about the town of Asheville's history, its strong entrepreneurial spirit, and its evolution into a much sought-after beer and culinary destination. Loved the walk through town, seeing the different bars and brewery spaces (we visited Hi-Wire, Catawba and Green Man), and soaking up the enthusiasm of all the beer fans on the tour. By the end of the three hours I finally dove in and tasted a Porter at Green Man...and guess what? I liked it! I won't be pursuing cicerone certification (aka beer sommelier) after this BREW-ed tour, but Cliff may well have converted me into a beer drinker. Salud!

This was a Christmas gift for my husband. We booked in advance, the week of our trip to Asheville, and didn't have any trouble securing our spots for the tour. This tour started at Hi Wire brewing with a history and process of brewing beer. We enjoyed 4 samples of Hi Wire beer. Our guide was very knowledgeable not only on the history of Asheville but he also holds Cicerone Certificate. We also visited Catawba brewery, 3 samples, and Green Man Brewery, 3 samples, on this tour. Thankfully there was a food truck at Green Man Brewery that made the most awesome grilled cheese sandwiches (Melt your Heart food truck). The tour last a little over 3 hours and we all had a great time. If you love beer, you should definitely take this tour. Highly recommend.
