What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
At the edge of the Kenai Peninsula lies a land where the ice age lingers. Nearly 40 glaciers flow from the Harding Icefield, Kenai Fjords’ crowning feature. Wildlife thrives in icy waters and lush forests around this vast expanse of ice. Native Alutiiq relied on these resources to nurture a life entwined with the sea.

The morning before our scheduled hike, our kayak tour canceled last minute. They were able to move us to that morning’s hike just an hour before takeoff. That flexibility really helped (and allowed us to reschedule instead of canceling the other tour). The tour was really cool. Pretty strenuous day of hiking for my pregnant wife and myself. The glacier was other worldly and was really fun to get out on. I had never used crampons but they are easy and very fun. Fred was a great guide. Helped us out along the way and matched the pace we were doing.

Had a fantastic day with Fred as my guide on this excursion - hiking up to and on the Exit Glacier. We went May 31 so still lots of snow on trail and on glacier. Fred was excellent, very knowledgeable about the plants, animals and glacier itself. He utilized excellent safety practices and made the day very fun! He also makes a great vegetarian wrap! Highly recommend….. also loved leaning in and looking into the crevasses of the glacier (you are roped)….

Tough hike up to the glacier but well worth it! Our guide, Tatum, was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He made sure we stayed safe and had a lot of fun!
