Frankly Charleston Morning Walking Tour

Overview
TOUR REFLECT

The truthful acknowledgment of African American contributions to these United States of America since its founding, which is still in limbo or in denial compared to the racism that is wide spread throughout this country for the sake of its southern heritage, in step with keeping it a tradition? Why can’t Americans get with the time?

We break down the other Charleston and the stereo typical mind set of the institution of slavery in this country or shall I say in the Low Country Charles Towne. Were we GULLAH? Or were we AFRICANS? What was the reward for not running? How wealthy were the free People of Color?

Franklin’s tour was the highlight of my four days in Charleston. Franklin has a delightful demeanor and brings alive the true story of Charleston’s past, not the oft “whitewashed” version presented on other tours. I highly recommend Frankly Charleston.

Franklin’s tour was enlightening and helped us as first time visitors to Charleston to better understand the city. He gave a much richer, full perspective of both the history that is more widely shared in the other bus and carriage tours, but also the important history of slavery and African American resilience in Charlestons history. If you want the deeper, fuller picture of this city so rich in history- do not miss his tour!!!

Franklin was an exceptional tour guide. My wife and I were fortunate to be the only ones on this tour so it was like having a long conversation with a true authority on the history of Black Charleston. His tour completely changed our perspective on Charleston. The beauty and charm of the city was created by the blood, sweat, and tears of the slaves who actually built it. Franklin brings all of this to life in a powerful way.
