Giant Redwoods Tour Including a 4-Course Winery Lunch

Overview

The day begins at the magnificent Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve with a walk among trees that soar 300 feet in the sky. This is an unparalleled chance to experience trees that have been around for 1500 years. We purposefully choose NOT to go to the more known Muir Woods, which is overrun with crowds and prevents our guests from fully enjoying the majesty of the Redwoods. Instead, we go to Armstrong Woods, which has older and taller trees, and far less crowds.

We then move on to Kendall-Jackson winery and culinary garden where the farm-to-table culinary movement is in full bloom as we tour through the gardens that are the source of vegetables for California’s most prestigious restaurants.

Once we’ve seen the incredible offering of the culinary garden, Kendall Jackson’s award-winning chefs will prepare a four-course lunch paired with some of the winery's finest offerings. The menu changes with the seasons depending on the freshest offerings from the garden.

This was a fantastic trip which I took with my brother and our eighty-year-old father. We were visiting San Francisco from the UK. The trip was well-organised with good communication throughout. We were changed to this trip from our original booking which was undersubscribed, but we were very glad that we were! The Armstrong Redwood Reserve was everything we had hoped - good accessibility too for my father's wheelchair on identified trails. The winery was a very impressive building with a beautiful garden and the four course meal with each course paired with one of the winery's own wines was absolutely beautiful. We were given information about each of the courses and the wines by knowledgeable staff and were made to feel very welcome. Stephen, our tour guide and driver, was really pleasant and knowledgeable too - he gave us a great day!

Everything! This was the best tour I have ever taken. We were educated by our brilliant guide Steven, awed and inspired by the beautiful Armstrong Redwoods, and satiated by the delectable food and wine at Kendal Jackson!

Steven the tour guide was a joy. Jacky was awesome. Sorry I didn't get to see the apples on the tree. Maybe on my next visit. Not a wine drinker but I the pinot was my favorite.
