The train can accommodate a motorized scooter if it is no wider than 25 inches. There is a special lift to lift the scooter onto the train.

I have taken the GC Railway three times! My favorite time is the winter, when the canyon is dusted with light snow, and the train is only half full. Very relaxing on the train; music entertainment is provided (varying quality; depending on who is working on your scheduled day). When you get to the Canyon, you have about 3.5 hours to enjoy a meal, walk around, etc. I highly recommend you quickly catch a shuttle to the visitor center - and feel that the view from behind the VC is better than the closer view behind El Tovar.

Three generations of our family took a ride on the Polar Express to the North Pole, curtesy of the Grand Canyon Railway. We took the 7:30 train on a cold, snowy night and it was wonderful! The train was warm, inviting and the staff did a great job entraining all passengers, old and young. Before boarding the train, we enjoyed the light display, the skit, the husslel and bussel of the station and a quick light dinner in the Railway hotel. Our drive to Williams was about 2 1/2 hours but well worth the trip for a family outing that was enjoyable and memorable.

We booked a package deal - stayed at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel, took the train and received one dinner and one breakfast buffet on our over night stay. We were a party of five and loved this experience. We booked First Class and it was way comfortable and include refreshments (and the option to buy bar drinks). We all agree on one thing - we would do this again in a heart beat - the hotel is lovely - the food was good and the rail trip was wonderful - and the Grand Canyon was truly amazing.
