There isn’t enough room here to list just how much fun I had on this train! I booked this trip and combined it with the mule trip down to Phantom Ranch, in April 2017; my trip was for July, and I’m glad I booked it early. The trip on the railway included a stay at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel in Williams, AZ, and that’s where you get on board the train. I recommed getting the luxury dome seating because that way you can see the landscape and you’re allowed to roam the train if you want. The crew is friendly and knowledgeable. There is on board entertainment by singing cowboys, and even a train robbery. When you book the luxury dome seats, there is complimentary snacks and beverages included. It was an amazing trip, and I plan on returning soon!

We rode the Grand Canyon Railway to the Grand Canyon. We were expecting some nice scenery but were really disappointed. They had entertainers / actors on the train, which helped, but felt it was overpriced.

Recently took Grand Canyon Railway to the Grand Canyon in the observation car. Pre-boarding western show was cute, but a little slow moving. Our car (Desert View) on the outbound trip was very nice. Morning snack was similar to a continental breakfast. The "cowboy" entertainment was fun. Train station is just steps away from El Tovar Hotel and the south rim (trail of time which is a paved pathway). Return car (Grand View) was not as nice as Desert View. Afternoon goodies were great; also had a champagne toast. Train robbery was an added bonus. I would not book the observation car in both directions, as you see the same scenery going and coming. Splurge on the outbound trip and ride in a lower class coming home. Overall a great experience and one that I would recommend.
