I did this tour a few years ago and it was almost the same. A little condensed but still entertaining. I enjoyed the sites as I was able to share with my family this time around.

The tour is on a fun, open air van but the tour guide assigned the seats for each group. While it makes sense to seat groups together, we were stuck in the back of the van. 1 of our group is hard of hearing and a couple were struggling with motion sickness as we drove through windy roads and stop-and-go traffic. Another problem was that the guide was hard to hear, despite the sound system. Also, the tour guide had no personality and pretty much recited the tour details verbatim. There were no additional anecdotes and it felt like he was just reading the tour details from a guide book. I don’t think he smiled once! The route we took is the exact same route many other tour groups use as we kept leapfrogging with a competitor van. The route is interesting but the tour guide took most of the fun out of the trip. I’ve done tours like this in many cities over the years and this was by far the worst tour guide I’ve ever experienced. With a different guide, this tour could be a lot more fun as the sites are fun to see and they do provide some interesting facts that you wouldn’t know just by driving the route on your own.

Not entirely disappointed, but not impressed. The tour guide was friendly but went way too fast and didn’t give enough notice when we were coming up to a house of interest. For example, there was no “coming up on your right, left…”. It was more, “and here is so and so‘s house…“ And everyone is like where? Which side should we be looking? Oh, there it is!” but we were already driving past it lol. He did a good job showing us the Hollywood Sign and making sure everyone got good pictures of it (stopped to let us have time to take pics) He did seem knowledgeable, but it just went too fast. If I were to do it again, I would just be sure to tell the guide to please give everyone advance notice as you’re coming up to the homes rather than as you’re going past them 😂
