This was a fantastic helicopter tour of the glacier with a brief but amazing walk on the icy field. Scenic and inspiring trip!

We had done our research and arranged to do the Dog Sledding and helicopter to Herbert Glacier with Coastal. Unfortunately that fell thru due to weather (we had read the other reviews and knew this was a possibility). Coastal worked with us to arrange for us to still tour the lower part of the glacier and wow, the whole family said it was the highlight of the trip! The ride up was about 20 minutes and included a good tour of the lower portion of the glacier before we landed. The time on the glacier was about 20 to 25 minutes (which was enough time due to the cold). We got to taste the glacier water, explore the glacier and learn a bit about it. Our pilot Dan was awesome and very knowledgeable about the glacier and handled the helicopter with ease. Would definitely recommend this trip to anyone looking to get away from the crowds at Mendenhall.

Beautiful flight with a landing on the glacier. Our pilot guided us on a short hike around the landing spot to see ice formations and drink the glacier water. Easy to walk in the ice boots, even for my 74yo mother. This is my second flight with Coastal Helicopters. My profile pic is from the first. Simple to book with many choices of flight times. Easy transport to/from cruise dock. Quick processing at the heliport to include fitting ice boots. Bring a jacket and long pants for the glacier walk. It's cool and breezy on the ice, duh.
