What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.
2
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs and is known for its abundance of seabirds.

This tour was amazing! We throughly enjoyed the cruise around the park! We were able to much wildlife: puffins, whales Seals, sea otters and black bear swimming! The Aialik glacier was spectacular! We were able to hold a piece of the glacier and see the glacier calving! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Captain Tim, Sara and Laura were an amazing team!

My husband and I took this tour in mid- September, and were lucky enough to have stellar weather (which, evidently, is anything but guaranteed that time of year). It was so beautiful, that I think it would have been worth it even if it hadn't been so gorgeous out! The scenery is spectacular! Our captain was extremely knowledgeable and personable- we learned a lot about what we were seeing. The time spent at the Holgate glacier was amazing. We got to witness it calving, and saw some seals and sea otters hanging out there, as well. I was surprised at the winds while at the glacier- kudos to the captain for keeping us so steady for so long so we could all get wonderful views and photo ops. We saw a large group of sea lions during the tour, as well as several species of sea birds (the puffins are adorable!!), and even three humpback whales, even though it was late in the season for them. Our captain had a keen eye!!! If we ever get back to Alaska, I will definitely check out another of their tours! Just awesome!

On a gorgeous sunny day, the four of us set off on building a memory of a lifetime together. Humpback whales, sea otters, puffins, sea lions, murres, mountain goat, eagles, glaciers, waterfalls! Even though it was August, it was good we brought wool coats, wool hats, scarves, and gloves so we could stay outside the whole time and really see everything there was to see. We could have sat inside at the tables next to huge windows, but we wanted to feel the wind in our hair. This was my third time on a Kenai Fjord Tour and I can't wait until the next occasion to go again.
