What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.
2
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs and is known for its abundance of seabirds.

My wife and I took the 6 hour National Park Cruise from Seward and it was incredible. We spent 25 minutes watching ice crash down from a Glacier into the ocean. You see it happen before you hear the aftermath. I THOUGHT THIS ONLY HAPPENED IN ANTARCTICA!?!! It was super cool. Many Glaciers and lots of wildlife is seen from the boat. We saw Humpback Whales, Orcas, Seals, Puffins, Bald Eagles, Sea Otters, and much more. The Captain was very knowledgeable of all topics. I am very disappointed that they do not have a Vegan option.

If you have the weather will did (a little cloudy at times and in the 60's), you will speak about this experience as one of the best.

I would highly recommend one of the longer Kenai Fjord cruises offered by Major Marine. We took the 8.5 hour cruise that goes all the way to the back fjords and glaciers in the park - we wanted to take a longer one to have the best chance to see marine life, and this one did not disappoint. Captain Justin Krank and Naturalist Clint did a fantastic job of taking us to the best locations to see lots of animals, and these guys were very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. We were able to see humpback whales, Dalls porpoises, sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, mountain goats, bald eagles, puffins and several glaciers and waterfalls. This was the highlight of our two weeks in Alaska.
