What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.
2
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs and is known for its abundance of seabirds.

We took this day cruise the morning before boarding our Cruise ship. After picking us up, the driver took our luggage to the cruise ship for us. After the cruise, they had a driver to take us to the ship which was just a few minutes away. The day was sunny and clear, although it was definitely cold on deck when the boat was moving. There was plenty of indoor seating to keep warm. Lunch was quite good for a day tour. The captain kept a constant look out for wildlife and knew where to take us to see a wide variety. We did see some whales, always wish we could have seen more, but you can't control nature! It was a truly excellent way to spend the day. I would highly recommend for anyone in the area.

We took a 6 hour cruise with Kenai Fjords Tours and we were kept entertained almost from start to finish. If you want to see Nature at its best then this tour is a 'must'. We saw whales, sea otters, seals, bridlife of all kinds and that was on top of the grandeur of the glaciers. The whole tour was made all the more enjoyable by the professionalism of the young attentive crew. Of special note was the chicken wrap lunch which was one of the best wraps I have tasted. All in all, I give this tour 10 out of 10 and that includes value for money

Waters were rough and before leaving they told us the captain may not be able to get into the fjords to see glaciers, giving us the option to cancel our trip for a full refund. But we took a chance and had an unbelievable experience! Rough waters, but we got to the glaciers, saw whales breaching (even the captain got excited!!), saw bald eagles, seals, otters, puffins and so much more! A park ranger was on board, and she shared so much knowledge with us. The tour included lunch, which was delicious and plentiful.
