What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.
2
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs and is known for its abundance of seabirds.

Captain Mark and the crew did a great job. Seeing the glacier up close was amazing, not to mention the orcas hunting, sea lions and otters basking. The open water was a bit rough, but everything turned out fine. It was worth the drive down to Seward.

We did the 8.5 hour tour. It was fabulous . The captain was so knowledgeable and did everything in her power for us to see everything possible on the cruise. We saw 5 killer whales, sea otters, bald eagles, puffins, seals, and glaciers. The boat is a good size and not so crowded . We also did a Phillips 26 glacier tour. It had 300 people on it and we were crammed in middle tables where we could hardly see anything. If you have to choose between the two definitely choose the Kenai Tours - it was much less crowded and not so corporate.
