Overview

Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

The theatrical show is very entertaining and just the right length. We also enjoyed the traditional hula numbers during dinner. Bought train tickets and enjoyed the train tour of the plantation - learned some history and got to feed a local herd of pigs. Artisan fair had a few interesting booths but was a lot of photography and jewelry. Some events occurred concurrently with the train ride; the main issue was that the rest of our table was seated and finishing the salad course by the time we got back. Food was about what you'd expect from a huge event buffet, though the desserts were mediocre at best.

the food was pulled pork, sliced mango, macaroni salad, green salad. so the reality is i could have went to denny's restaurant for that and it would have actually tasted better! why for that price of close to 170.00 per person did they serve the cheapest buffet they could manage? really , no fresh seafood, no traditional hawaiin cuisine. what the .... never again. the food shpild be a good reason to attend, it is not! beware!

We found the overall experience to be very good. We did the gold package with the train ride which made for a fun evening. The food was a buffet style and had many options. Quality of food was average. The show was very entertaining and my kids were engaged the entire show. I would reccomend the gold seats with children for viewing location.. Pre buffet there are many vendors to shop and find hand crafted items as keep sakes.
