Overview

Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

This was my first luau ever and it was a terrible waste of money. The food was so horrible it was like a elementary school lunch. The show wasn't any better 30 minutes of garbage. The train ride was just to show off the fruit they have. The luau was indoors and with 300 people 15 to a table touching elbows for 3 hours. Don't waste your time and money.

Show was fantastic. Grounds are wonderful. The food though was a very small selection. It was kind of an odd selection too for a Luau in comparison to other I have been to in the past. The pig was there for example but where was the poi? Seemed like some major things were missing. But the pig was good I will give them that. The fish was really odd . It was soupy/watery and just had a sign that said season fish. What is that? Too hard to tell us what type? Looked like frozen tilapia in a butter sauce to me. Defiantly not seasonal or local to the islands. I would tell you what it tasted like but it was so watery it had no taste. Lomi Lomi salmon was warm too like it was left out for a long time. Salad was not nearly enough for half the table and rolls were packaged Kings Hawaiian from Safeway across the street served with out butter. Dinner was weird and really disappointing. The show/band/facility on the other hand the were all awesome. It is the best on these aspects besides and Luau on on the beach. No building can beat a sunset luau on the beach's of Kauai but the lighting and sound system here makes it a close call. The craft fair before hand and photo ops were great touches and the show is probably the best I have seen. The food though... unfortunately they cut the corners there for sure. I am really torn on whether or not I can recommend it. I guess you could always go pick at the food items that were good or have dessert and load up on drinks love the show and then grab taco bell after across the street after.

Food was average and the entertainment was excellent. We where quit far from the stage and it was hard to see over the other guest.
