Manatees/Sunset/Bioluminescence Tour

Overview
Experience everything the wildlife refuge has to offer with three distinct experiences packed into one three-hour tour! Launch your kayak in the daylight and surround yourself with Florida’s most-loved endangered species, West Indian Manatees! Sit back while the gentle giants roll, sniff, and nuzzle all around you. Dolphins are also active this time of day as they wrangle their dinner in the adjacent cove.

Next, head out to Bird Island, a federally protected rookery, to watch hundreds of birds soar in overhead. Ibis, herons, egrets, pelicans, cormorants, and roseate spoonbills and more all glide in their flocks to nest for the night. Be lulled into serenity by the gently rocking kayak as the sun descends for the night in the pinks, oranges, and reds of sunset.

Finally, the tour culminates in the season’s bioluminescent experience, whether it be summer bioluminescence, winter comb jelly bioluminescence, or a star-studded moonlit sky.

We had an absolutely incredible experience on our combo tour Sunday night! Our guide Bob was very knowledgeable regarding all of the plants and wildlife in the area. We saw dolphins, a gator, and manatees. And the bioluminescence was bright and perfectly magical. Honestly the trip blew our high expectations out of the water! We will definitely be bringing friends back again soon!

After watching a glorious sunset, we got to watch mullet leap through the glowing dinoflagellates. Choose the extra hour to explore the mangroves with a veteran guide like Bob or Brandi. We saw many manatees, birds island, an 8 foot gator, dolphins and more leaping mullet than you can count. All with a steady travel talk about the area around Merritt Island.

Bob was fantastic! The mondo tour was so worth it. My favorite part was the sunset tour and the dinoflagellates. The sunset was one of the most beautiful that I have seen! We saw some dolphins during the sunset. We also got to see some alligators, manatees, and mullet fish. It was AMAZING. Can't wait to do it again!
