Manatees/Sunset/Bioluminescence Tour

Overview
Experience everything the wildlife refuge has to offer with three distinct experiences packed into one three-hour tour! Launch your kayak in the daylight and surround yourself with Florida’s most-loved endangered species, West Indian Manatees! Sit back while the gentle giants roll, sniff, and nuzzle all around you. Dolphins are also active this time of day as they wrangle their dinner in the adjacent cove.

Next, head out to Bird Island, a federally protected rookery, to watch hundreds of birds soar in overhead. Ibis, herons, egrets, pelicans, cormorants, and roseate spoonbills and more all glide in their flocks to nest for the night. Be lulled into serenity by the gently rocking kayak as the sun descends for the night in the pinks, oranges, and reds of sunset.

Finally, the tour culminates in the season’s bioluminescent experience, whether it be summer bioluminescence, winter comb jelly bioluminescence, or a star-studded moonlit sky.

Great!! Chaz was a fantastic guide with lots of knowledge!! We saw manatees playing and the most beautiful bioluminescent comb jellyfish and plankton. It was safe and very respectful of the wildlife and the tourists. I went with my 13 year old son who loved it, but there were families with younger kids who did great. Highly recommend!!

We loved this tour! We reached out last minute and they found us a guide to take us out that evening, superior customer service. Chaz was a blast! Educational and never lost our interests or our kids. He has the spots nailed down and we saw multiple manatee (one even came up by our boat and we were able to touch it!), dolphins, along with the bioluminescent comb jellies and plankton. We love experiencing nature with our kids and even the teenager was blown away and loved it.

Our group had an awesome night on the water! Our guide Chaz was very knowledgeable and personable, and delivered on all the potential of the tour. We saw dolphins, manatees, a beautiful sunset and bioluminescent critters. The Falcon 9 launch and the awesome stars were icing on the cake! All in all, I highly recommend Chaz and A Day Away! PS - the new tandem kayaks were the nicest boats my wife and I have rented - very comfortable and stable.
