Manatees/Sunset/Bioluminescence Tour

Overview
Experience everything the wildlife refuge has to offer with three distinct experiences packed into one three-hour tour! Launch your kayak in the daylight and surround yourself with Florida’s most-loved endangered species, West Indian Manatees! Sit back while the gentle giants roll, sniff, and nuzzle all around you. Dolphins are also active this time of day as they wrangle their dinner in the adjacent cove.

Next, head out to Bird Island, a federally protected rookery, to watch hundreds of birds soar in overhead. Ibis, herons, egrets, pelicans, cormorants, and roseate spoonbills and more all glide in their flocks to nest for the night. Be lulled into serenity by the gently rocking kayak as the sun descends for the night in the pinks, oranges, and reds of sunset.

Finally, the tour culminates in the season’s bioluminescent experience, whether it be summer bioluminescence, winter comb jelly bioluminescence, or a star-studded moonlit sky.

Brian was our tour guide on the Mondo tour, who was great! He is a manatee whisperer. We saw so many and they came right up to us. We sat a way aways for them, non invasive, then loads of the manatees came up to us. Right up close!!!! So wonderful. We done lots of kayaking before in 4/5 different counties and this is the best tour we ever decided to do! I'll do it again anytime we are in the area. (The practical) Do use insect repellent everywhere! They got both of us in the gap between t-shirt and shorts. I wasn't sure whether to go for the Mondo or just the bioillum, just the bioillum would have been a little deflating as they were not too bright that night. The bio light was still pretty cool but the manatees were so incredible!!!! So go for the Mondo tour!!!!

Our guide, Bob, was a lot of fun. Had manatees all around the kayaks and had a great view of the sunset.

This tour was everything we hoped it would be. Our guide, Brian, was extremely informative and knowledgeable. My husband and I took our kids ages 16 and 14, and our friends brought their 16 year old. We saw dolphins, manatees, alligator, and glowing jellyfish. This tour was definitely the highlight of our vacation.
