Manatees/Sunset/Bioluminescence Tour

Overview
Experience everything the wildlife refuge has to offer with three distinct experiences packed into one three-hour tour! Launch your kayak in the daylight and surround yourself with Florida’s most-loved endangered species, West Indian Manatees! Sit back while the gentle giants roll, sniff, and nuzzle all around you. Dolphins are also active this time of day as they wrangle their dinner in the adjacent cove.

Next, head out to Bird Island, a federally protected rookery, to watch hundreds of birds soar in overhead. Ibis, herons, egrets, pelicans, cormorants, and roseate spoonbills and more all glide in their flocks to nest for the night. Be lulled into serenity by the gently rocking kayak as the sun descends for the night in the pinks, oranges, and reds of sunset.

Finally, the tour culminates in the season’s bioluminescent experience, whether it be summer bioluminescence, winter comb jelly bioluminescence, or a star-studded moonlit sky.

Great tour! Bob was a great guide. We saw manatees, bird island, cone jellyfish and the dinoflagellates. Everything was cool! Good paced tour and plenty of time to play in the water with the cool creatures from the kayak.

I would recommend this tour to everyone. We were delighted with our time spent with the manatees and watching all the other amazing wildlife in the area. The last part of the tour where you get to see the bioluminescence was so unique and something I never expected to see. Our guide Brian was great. He was so informative and made sure that everyone was having a good experience. I'm 60, so I was a little worried about keeping up with everyone else in the kayaks but the pace was very doable. Do yourself a favor and take a break from the big amusement parks and experience this great tour. Do remember to bring bug spray. I came away with a few bites but more than worth it to see the wildlife.

Great time on the Mondo Combo Tour with our guide, Bob. We were a little apprehensive about the directions but they were spot on. For us, it would have been helpful to give a street address to a location in Titusville that we could have used the vehicle's GPS to get us close and then the written directions from there. We made to the meeting spot with no problems. Bob was waiting with the kayaks all set up. After a quick safety brief, we hit the water with another couple. Great seeing the area during the day, my wife and I even got to experience an up-close encounter with a manatee. After we finished the sunset portion of our experience, we paddled to a near by island and after a bit, we got to experience the bioluminescence and comb jellies. Both impressive in their own right. Bob was great, passing on information throughout the tour along with a few jokes. After it got dark, Bob showed the different planets that were visible along with several constellations. We did see one of the other tour groups and were glad we picked A Day Away Kayak Tour. If you're on the fence, book it now! You won't be sorry. My wife liked it so much, she wants to go again during our next trip to the area. We were visiting Orlando attractions and wanted to experience something that wasn't staged at the amusement parks. This tour definitely fulfilled that need.
