Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We had booked a manta tour with another company the night before and barely saw a manta. We were so disappointed! We decided to try again with a smaller group and a different company. We chose Hawaii Oceanic for the redo and we are ecstatic that we did! Hawaii Oceanic knows their stuff and having the smaller group worked well! The experience was magical! I can’t thank this team enough!!!! Manta Magic is an accurate description. I loved this crew! Justin, Brent and Lexi! Lexi greeted was knowledgeable, personable and friendly! Justin was FINtastic! And my dude Brent was a god! In order to have an epic experience you have to have your feet up and not kick. Brent paid attention made sure everyone had their feet up so we could have the magical experience! This crew knows their stuff. We couldn’t be happier and we would recommend them to absolutely everyone!!!! Book with this group they know what they’re doing!

What a fantastic experience; definitely the highlight of our Hawaiian stay! Captain Jeff, life guard Hunter, and India were informative, educational, and very helpful. The short boat ride, wetsuits, noodles, and Go Pro add-on were much appreciated and made the experience comfortable, easy. Lots of pictures to share! Per other reviews, checking out the area in daylight is strongly encouraged. The manta rays showed up, got close, and stuck around for much of the time we were in the water. Wow; those creatures are so much more impressive when seen live and in action...we'll be back!!
