Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

The captain and diver were great, but the water was too choppy. I had a hip replacement so I would not recommend the trip for those with limited mobility because getting in the boat was fine but climbing out and back in was daunting enough to keep me in the boat. Even though my granddaughter and I chose to stay inside the boat, it was amazing to see the manta swim under the board of our other participants who did get out.

We're glad you enjoyed the crew, and we're sorry you had difficulties getting in and out of the boat. This tour requires the ability to step in and out of a boat on the dock (a bigger-than-normal step), and to climb up a swim ladder to get out of the water and into the boat. If anyone is unsure whether the tour will be comfortable for them, please contact us.

Excellent experience. We were able to see many rays as well as schools of other fish feeding on the plankton. The rays put on a show by doing multiple rolls and swimming within three feet of our group. Kiko was a great guide and the skipper was accommodating. We would highly recommend this tour. Completely worth it and a great value

Mahalo for your review, and we're happy to hear you enjoyed the manta ray barrel rolls from just a few feet away. So cool!

Great trip! Saw half dozen Manta Ray or more. The captain was great. No complaints. Spent about 45 minutes in the water. Amazing evening. Don’t know what all the complaints are about finding location. Apple Maps got me right there with the address and van was easy to spot with the lights on top.

Mahalo for reviewing your "amazing evening" with the manta rays, and we're glad you had an easy time finding us. With many tour boat operators running out of Keauhou Harbor, it can be difficult to find us at first, and we always recommend that our guests give us a call if they don't immediately find us.
