Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

The tour is amazing! If you love MantaRay, this will be a life-memorable tour to go. Haven’t seen so many MantaRay in my entire life! (Even in Aquarium not so many) at one time we saw five dancing around us at the same time. The tour guide Aaron is super experienced and helpful. We were in water for an hour, and it’s the longest snorkel time I had been given.

Decided to do the night mana snorkel tour on a whim while on my honeymoon. I did the 7:30 since I figured the darker the better (they had a 4:30 option as well). It does not disappoint. The mana’s are close enough that one of them actually accidentally bumped into me. They are 100% completely harmless. You really don’t believe how amazing these creatures are until you see them up close. The guys on the boat tour were great and extremely helpful. I ended up going solo since my wife does not snorkel. I’m a great swimmer but I could tell how helpful they were to other guests who weren’t so water inclined. And to top it off the view of the stars on the way there and back was amazing. Would recommend as an awesome unique experience to any avid or new snorkeler out there.

The tour is awesome and smooth. We saw 2 mantas 4-5 times swimming beneath us and the first time was so close; they almost touched us! Also, I am not a good swimmer and they made me feel safe in the sea. Highly recommend the tour! Thanks so much to Aaron and Ali'i!
