Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

The guys who ran it were really nice. However, I think I came away somewhat disappointed. Everything was a little “less” than I had hoped. They didn’t provide wetsuit tops as advertised, and we got pretty cold. They didn’t even have a spare towel on the boat. The refreshments were Costco Doritos and Cheetos. And we saw mantas for a total of about 1 minute of our whole evening. Again, the guides were friendly and kind, but I didn’t particularly learn a lot about mantas. The whole thing didn’t quite live up to my expectations. Especially since so many others named this as the highlight of their trip.

We had a wonderful time with the Hawaii Ocean's crew ! The Mantas are so majestic and beautiful. Watching them glide through the water was a life-time experience ! I can't swim well and I'm afraid of the open ocean, but I wanted so much to do this tour. As we were on the boat, I panicked a little but Alicia let me feel safe, approach the light board to the boat for me and gave me a noodle to reassure me. If you think you can't do it, don't listen to yourself and juste DO IT ! My boyfriend had the time of his life too. We saw a lot of Mantas, it was the highlight of our trip :) Thank you Hawaii Oceanic !

I was a bit hesitant to go on this tour, but my daughter bought us tickets. It was amazing. It was a little difficult getting to the dock, and it rained on the boat ride out... but the manta rays were amazing. The crew was knowledgable and friendly. I would definitely do this again.
