Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

This trip is a must I gotta say. First off, the crew: Chad and his first mate Keoki were excellent at explaining all details, making us feel comfortable and introducing us to the world of manta rays! The trip itself was great, we had opportunity to do a really good snorkeling before the evening fell (we went on the earlier tour) and once sun had set, the magic began and we got to see several mantas, all of them doing back-flips (a really cool behavior), while one big 8-foot manta did a triple flip under our board!! :) Definitely reccomended!

We did the 730-930 night mantra tour. Eugene and keoki lead the trip and are both from the big island with touring experience. Competitive price and easy online sign up with text reminder. Their boat is smaller in size compared to some of the other boats we encountered from competiting tours. This actually allowed for better interaction with the crew. It was scary fun jumping into the ocean at night. Different types of critters seen too such as tiny jellyfish, tiny, colorful fish that were also eaten by bigger, fish. That was interesting to watch while waiting for the mantras. We only saw 1 mantra but it liked us and visited a few times doing loops as it ate. We floated for 45 mins which was fine because I was getting cold. Overall it was a good trip.

First of all Chad and his first mate Keoki were incredible guides. So full of knowledge about not only the Manta Rays, but the Hawaiian Islands. I was nervous leading up to the trip, not knowing what to expect. But once I was on the boat with these 2, I knew i had nothing to worry about! The Manta’s were incredible! They come straight up from the bottom (which you can see) and look like they’re going to hit you head on. But then, they do a barrel roll, and come within inches of your mask, never touching you. You are able to see numerous Manta’s swimming and feeding due to the lights on the bottom of the ocean from other boats. It’s absolutely incredible! If you are on the Big Island, this is a MUST!!
