Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

If you're a person who enjoys adventure, while wanting to protect wild life, this activity is a must! The crew is passionate about protecting the Manta Rays AND giving you a great experience. The Rays come within mere inches while feeding on plankton. Tips: 1) heed their advice on wearing their wetsuit; 2) bring a jacket to wear after you're in the water; 3) relax and enjoy. We were nervous at first, but the crew really know what they're doing. Bonus? Having a breathless view of the night sky during the boat ride to and from the snorkeling spot.

Not gonna lie...as a novice snorkeler I straddled the line between being half excited about this tour and half terrified but it was legit one of the best tour experiences I have ever had in my life and I cannot cannot cannot wait to return to Hawaii to do this again. First off, lemme just say I’m a larger girl and one of my biggest fears was realized when they didn’t have a wetsuit that fit my full bodaciousness..BUT...the staff could not have treated me with more discretion and respect and for that I am eternally grateful. Really didn’t need it anyway as the water was warmer than I expected. Also want to say that after telling the guide, Dylan, that I was a bit apprehensive about all of this he instantly became my BFF and personally made sure that my mask was fitted correctly and that I was comfortable in it, that I got in and out of the boat safely, and that I remained fully in my comfort zone. He made my experience so joyful and memorable! Dylan and Captain Chad (or Matt? I’m so sorry I can’t remember!) gave me the individual attention I needed while still caring for the whole group. Our initial drop point wasn’t so manta-heavy so he physically towed all of us to just the right spot and OHMYGOD the mantas were barely inches from my face and it was beyond epic. Seriously. People have said how close they come but until you are there yourself and experience it, it’s hard to describe. I could not recommend this more. I want to do this five more times.

We had the most amazing time! They provide warm wetsuits, explain everything including all about the manta rays; they help you develop a love and respect for them. It was a seamless experience and we saw LOTS of manta rays!!! They came so close. At one point there were four at a time! Very fun and professional yet personable. Very safe!
