Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

This is a must to do on the island! Our evening group was small and personal with the two staff members being locals. They took the time to make everyone feel comfortable and even went a little off the path to give us a magical experience watching the dolphins ride the boat waves. They made sure to take their time scoping out our spot making sure that once we got in the water that we had the most probability of seeing the Mantas. Once we were in the water the show was amazing with the Mantas swimming so close with multiple belly flips! I wouldn't think twice about going out again with these guys! I figured this would go without saying, but make sure you can swim for this experience. I was surprised to see that some of our group couldn't...

this was the highlight of my trip. I was kind of freaking out going out there. I’m not the strongest swimmer ( not that you have to be) but swimming in the ocean makes me uncomfortable. I didn’t know we got to snorkel before the manta show. There wasn’t a lot of fish but still really nice to be out there. When sunset hit we all were holding onto the light board and didn’t see any mantas. Chad and frank were not gonna let that happen. We ended up going closer to shore and sure enough there they were. Big and beautiful. Prior to jumping in the water we were told we’d be lucky if the manta rolled and we saw it roll 4-5 times and pretty much within arms reach of us. It was unreal. Such a great experience. Only thing that ruined it for me was the kid screaming the whole time. Made me thankful We didn’t bring our kids. I highly recommend chad and frank it’s a smaller more intimate group which I really like.
