Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

Dylan and the captain both did a super job getting us equipped, informed and out to the manta areas. The manta display itself wasn't a spectacular one the night we went (only one manta staying down near the bottom) but even so the experience was worthwhile. Thousands of fish and the manta sweeping back and forth. I am not used to snorkels and masks so that was a little uncomfortable but nothing major. I highly recommend the experience and this crew.

Our captain and deckhand were both fantastic and very knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to see 4 manta rays up close and personal! It was the highlight of the holiday and something that won't be soon forgotten. I would highly recommend this company as the group on board was small and so the presentation and experience more personal.

Don't very often do reviews but thought these guys deserved one. I recently went out with this company 3 times in 4 nights. Happened to be a bit of a slow time as far as seeing mantas went but after all they are wild animals. They held to their promise of seeing mantas or get another trip. These guys go out of their way to make sure you have the best possible experience with the best level of safety thrown in. They seemed to limit the guest number to 12 so it feels like they have time for each and every individual on the boat. Also when you get to the sites and see the mass of humanity getting off of some of the other boats out there you are thinking to yourself, am I ever glad I'm with this sized group. Went with 3 different captains and they were all excellent. Dylan was the snorkeler and manta expert on all 3 of the trips and can't say enough about how entertaining he is while still still maintaining a high level of professionalism. Finally did accomplish the goal of seeing mantas and it was a fantastic experience. Even the trips without seeing mantas were entertaining. Guess that's why I went back 3 times.
