Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

The guys are lovely and super helpful - I only just learned to swim so was a bit apprehensive but they made sure I was fine! Some of the people in our group didn't follow instructions (keep your legs up, people!! Luck of the draw... ) and we 'only' saw one manta but that was just magic, as it came back a couple of times and flipped right under us. Absolutely beautiful. The guys know their stuff and will look after you!

We loved our nighttime Manta Ray snorkle. I had been a little afraid to get in the water at night in the dark, but as soon as the crew gave us the OK to jump in, one of the people on our tour spotted the Mantas in the ocean right away, even more any lights were turned on, so we all jumped in immediately. It was an amazing night, and I counted at least 4 mantas but maybe more .... it was hard to keep track! Definitely a must do.

This tour is a must-do when visiting Kona or the Big Island. These manta rays are just majestic and this is such a unique way to experience their beautify. The Hawaii Oceanic tour is a smaller tour group format allowing extra attention and care. The crew we had were not only knowledgeable, they were extremely skilled. Ask for Jake and Dustin if you can!
