Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Captain Dusty and Chad looked after us really well, and were both knowledgeable and very friendly and helpful. Smaller boat and less crowded was the key attraction for us. I booked this trip based on Tripadvisor ratings and was not disappointed. We were on the 7.30pm trip, and sounded as though the 4.30pm trip was being phased out. Was slightly spooky getting into the water in the dark, but Dusty and Chad did everything to reassure everyone that all was good. Didn't bother with wetsuits that were on offer and the water was pleasantly warm. A few minutes after we got into the water, the mantas appeared. I took my own underwater camera and got both video footage and photos. I struggle to put into words how amazing it is to snorkel in the presence of these creatures. They are huge and swim so close, sometimes touching. Just amazing, stunning, humbling...I could go on. One of the best experiences of my life.

If you get sea sick, prepare yourself by taking something for nausia. That said, it was one of the best experiences of my life. Jason and Chad were amazing! These guys are from Hawaii and can tell you a lot based on their actual experiences, they are very laid back and fun! They were both very understanding and helpful to me when I had a bit of sea sickness. We snorkled with Chad and were able to see manta rays up close (inches away)! Such a wonderful time and opportunity!

We had an excellent time with dusty and Chad. There were both very knowledgeable and very personable. Seas were flat though a couple of guests did get seasick. Saw 3 mantas and lots of other underwater life.
