Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Great experience. We left a bit earlier and arrived earlier than other groups. we could do some snorkling during the day time, manage to see some manta be fore it got dark. but the real excitement is after the sun sets. Hanging from the floating board with led ligts while the manta are feeding under you is unbelievable. must do

My wife and I went on the Hawaii Oceanic Night Manta Ray Snorkel a few days ago. It's a stunner - the manta rays swim SO close to you as they feed on plankton. We liked that this is a small group operation - no more than 12 passengers, although there were only 9 in the group we were in. This is not just avoiding the general nuisance of a crowd - it makes for quick entry into the water at the beginning of the viewing, and quick exit from the water at the end of the viewing. The captain Dusty and the mate Dylan were experienced, competent, energetic, friendly, and supportive. They've obviously done this plenty of times before and were very good at guiding their passengers through what to do and what not to do. I recommend that you use a wetsuit - either your own or one of theirs (included in the price) - since you are just laying in the water for half an hour at night, hanging on to the light board, and even in Hawaii's water temp you can get cool doing that. My wife and I will likely return to Kona at some point, and will probably go on this Hawaii Oceanic outing again - it is that much of a wow.

Dylan and Jason did a great job leading us on this tour! The manta rays were super close and went back and forth under us several times. We had the added bonus of watching them do an at sea rescue of an outrigger canoe under distress and an epic sunset as well. I would definitely recommend this tour.
