Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Our guides were Dusty and Chad-E? Excellent guides. They provide the wet suits, which I'd recommend, as they actually make you float very well. Snacks and drinks are provided. You get to do a pre-snorkle before night fall which a great way to get in the water, get comfortable with your gear and surroundings and guide. They took really good care of us and we go to see 3-4 manta rays nearly the entire time we were in the water (at night). So much so, that the other companies were bringing their tours over to us. It was an amazing experience and I'd definitely recommend it. The only issue we ran into was the address Hawaii Discounts provided was not correct. Though their "View Map" link was correct, it wasn't working on all devices. We ended up at the wrong dock at first. After we realized we were at the wrong doc, we started heading towards the correct one, at the same time Dusty had been calling to see where we were at to make sure we didn't get left behind. This company makes a lot of effort to protect the marine life, which it seems that quite a few of the other companies could care less.

Had the most amazing experience on the Manta Ray tour. Our guides were extremely friendly and helpful! The Manta Rays are a must do on the Big Island and it wont be forgotten. We recommended it to many people we met after the experience.

We did a Manta night snorkel with Dusty and Dylan - they were great. The boat was just the right size - I think there were 11 of us on the trip. We left early enough to see some dolphins on the way there and arrived at the snorkel spot in time to get out and swim a bit before dark. One of the places that they really shined was in helping a family that weren't as confident of swimmers enough to keep them from being too much a distraction to the rest of us (except for a brief time when one managed to yank the wires on the light board). I've been on more than one tour that was not pleasant because of the chaos created by a small group and Dusty and Dylan were great at people management. The mantas showed up and did their manta thing, the kids were thrilled and the adults had a good time too.
