Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

We went on the Manta Magic Night Snorkel a week or so ago. The staff was really friendly and definitely went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. We saw a ton of mantas and even a hawaiian monk seal. I also want to note that between the buoyancy of the wetsuit and the paddleboard to hold onto, even people with limited swimming experience would probably be fine.

We went on the manta ray evening tour, and the experience surpassed all expectations. The crew--Jason, Jeremy, Ashley--were knowledgeable, helpful and terrific. We had a chosen this small boat tour because of the more personalized attention and eco-friendly attitude. Turned out to be the absolutely right decision--with a freshly sprained ankle, I had the care and expertise I needed in order to fully participate. Now, to the mantas--totally awesome. We saw at least five different ones that kept returning. Yes, we had read that they would come close to us, but until you experience their beauty, proximity, gracefulness, and size up close, you haven't an idea of what they are about. We worried that, with other boats around doing the same thing, that it might feel a bit crowded. Not at all. All boat operators and divers seemed respectful and provided space to these creatures. The fish were incredible, too. We'll do this again with this company soon--they were that good. The night was magical, start to finish. Thanks Hawaii Oceanic!

Snorkeling with the manta rays is one of the best things I've ever done! It was magical and other-worldly. And I loved the guide/captain we had at Hawaii Oceanic. The company really cares about the overall health and well-being of the manta rays and ocean. It's great to support a company that has a conscience. If you do one thing on the Big Island, go out with Hawaii Oceanic! Thanks for an amazing time!
