Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

What an amazing experience! The rays really put on a show. This was our third trip using Hawaiian Oceanic! Our guide Hunter was so knowledgeable and answered all the questions we had. I look forward to taking another trip to see the manta rays!

Excellent. Our guide was professional, told us a lot about manta rays. We saw many many manta rays (at least 5-6) and they came so close to us, almost just in front of our face. This is the best night snorkelling experience!!! Recommend everyone to go with Hawaii Oceanic. The wave could be rough, don’t get too full before going out to the sea.

We tried snorkeling with the Manta Ray at night in the Manta Village. It was our first time trying this and we thought it would be cold . It actually wasn't even though we went in December. The manta rays come right up to you and they even rub against you. The guide told us that we are not supposed to touch them but if they rub against us it's ok. We recommend using a Go Pro with a clear cover over it to film your experience as it can be used underwater.
