Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Eric and his team are incredible communicators and go out of their way to accommodate their guests. Our scheduled Mata Magic excursion was canceled due to a swell that was occurring at the time. I missed the email *AND* the phone call/VM notifying us of this and we arrived at the designated meeting place on the day we were scheduled to swim. While I was disappointed, I completely understand safety concerns. We are talking about nature, after all, and it is unpredictable. When I called, the person who answered the phone listened to me and I felt heard. Within minutes, Eric called to see what could be done. We eventually booked another trip later that week, which was also canceled due to safety with weather conditions. They notified us in plenty of time via email and phone. The next time we are in Hawaii, we will definitely book a trip with Hawaii Oceanic because of their exceptional customer service.

Beautiful creatures and great crew! Hunter was super knowledgeable. This was hands down the best experience I’ve ever had.

Terrific experience with Hunter and Captain Chad. Literally, within about 10-15 minutes of leaving the doc, we were in the water watching manta rays swim directly beneath us. Hunter is very knowledgeable and kept the whole tour fun and informative—the whole thing flew by. Their instructions were on point and easy to follow throughout the night, and they seemed very well prepared to give their guests a great experience. My tip would be to arrive early, as instructed (due to our own botched planning, we did not), as there are multiple groups at the same location and parking, while available, will be easier if you beat the crowd. Recommend without hesitation. Fun and unique outing.
