Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We were fortunate to go out with captain Chad and Hunter and see a number of different rays. They put us right on top of the rays and they started feeding in minutes. The rays were beautiful and come within inches of you. I did a lot of research in picking an operator, and these folks were everything I expected. Very professional and knowledgeable while being entertaining and caring. If you have any doubts on this trip being worth it, just do it. We saw 6-8 different mantas up close. Just one would have been worth the price. I can’t think of a better way to have ended our trip on this beautiful island.

Wow! Great excursion with Hunter and Capt. Chad. Saw these beautiful creatures up close and had a blast. Hunter is a great guide with a wealth of knowledge and an entertaining personality. His enthusiasm is contagious and he is courteous and professional. This is an easy snorkel excursion (you just hold onto the board and Hunter moves you around) and although its at night, there are lots of lights, so you never feel like you're swimming in the dark. So don't hesitate, you won't regret it.

What a thrill! My husband’s first salt water experience and we loved it. No kidding, at least 10 Rays and lots of activity. We will do this again on our next visit. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable, I felt very safe in there care.
