Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Lexy, Justin and Hunter were the best! This is definitely a MUST DO on the big island. Lexy keeps in touch and gets you there, explains everything and is the sweetest! Justin and Hunter were the best! Hunter was so patient with my 9 yo son and his questions and mask fitting. It really touched me how amazing he was. Justin took great care of us too! Just all around the best! The rays were amazing and we even saw dolphins! It’s definitely a once in a lifetime experience!

An easy evening event to get to see one of the most unusual and incredible sea creatures in the world. Very quick boat ride out to their feeding area. We saw 7 or 8 different mantas, the largest being roughly 12 feet in width. They came right up to where we were, literally inches away at times. Crew was very friendly. This is a must-do if you are on the Big Island in terms of viewing mega-fauna Hawaiian style!

We had a wonderful experience overall. It was confusing trying to find where to check in as it was not very visible and there were multiple tours at the same location. It would be helpful if your instructions included where to park, basically along the street. Once we found where we were supposed to check in, Lexi was great at fitting us for our wet suits and ankle floaties. I appreciate the safety info before we got on the boat where we met our captain, Justin. The great thing about this tour is it’s only a 5 minute boat ride to our destination, which is great for people who may experience sea sickness. Our tour guide, Hunter, was full of knowledge about manta rays and made us feel pretty safe in the water. I’m not a strong swimmer, but I was reassured to just enjoy myself. Just FYI, they do have noodles for anyone who needs it, like me and advise anyone who isn’t so confident about being in the water to get in the water last so they can keep a closer eye on you. I appreciate this team for allowing me to feel comfortable in the water and enjoy this excursion without worrying too much about not being a strong swimmer. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and we were so lucky to see so many manta rays that night! Definitely recommend this tour!
