Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Very well organized tour. The guide, organizer and captain were very knowledgeable and experienced. Got to see lots of manta rays very up-close the whole 30 minutes we were in the water. Highly recommend carrying your own under-water camera or rent their Go-Pro (which is what I did) to record this once in a lifetime experience.

They cancelled on us last minute because of “inclement weather” even though it was a perfectly clear, beautiful night. Have yet to be refunded.

While the skies were clear and it was a beautiful night, we were hit with a winter swell that brought 11-13 foot waves and it was way too dangerous to run this tour. Every tour company canceled their tours that night. This can easily be proven by looking at a surf report, and it's astonishing that Viator allows customers to submit reviews with easily provable lies. On that note, all refunds were provided, and we believe this customer received a refund. If not please contact us directly and we will work with viator to ensure the refund is processed. This review should be deleted for lying about the ocean conditions as well as lying about not receiving a refund.

We drove all the way from Hilo (almost two hrs drive) for this and 15 minutes before the departure got the text (in response to a query from me) that they cancelled it due to bad weather while the weather (current and forecast for next two hrs) looked great. They claimed that a text was sent, but I didn’t get any. There was a message email through Viator that was sent two hrs earlier but no one constantly checks emails when driving. So the bad review is not for the tour, but the suspicion that they cancelled the tour for some other reason and blamed on weather and then didn’t give a new date before our departure two days later. Got the money back on a positive note.

We canceled this tour because there was a large swell with huge waves, and it was too dangerous to run this tour. We called and then sent a text and an email when we did not reach the customer by phone. The message that was received in viator was the email we sent, which is also sent to their email. So this customer is accusing us of not sending an email or text (which we have proof of sending), as well as accusing us of canceling a tour due to some reason other than a massive swell with dangerous waves. Viator should not allow customers to lie about these types of things when we can easily prove they are lying. This review should be deleted.
