Chief was very knowledgeable about Manteo and the history of the surrounding area as well. He was funny, too. I am NOT a history person and absolutely LOVED his walk. It was an hour and a half tour that went a bit over 2 hours, but I'd have gone longer.

The walking tour was one of the highlights of our visit to North Carolina and Manteo this week. Manteo is our favorite spot to visit and Chief’s tour, knowledge of the history of the area and personal stories made it incredibly enjoyable for my family, especially my 16 and 18 year old boys who can be hard to please! I can only imagine what other stories he has to tell from his time as Chief in Manteo. It was fun and affordable. We highly recommend.

I learned so much on this tour about Manteo and the surrounding area. Chief D keeps you entertained with a great mix of history, science, and geography intermingled with anecdotes and what he calls “lore.” His stories about Andy Griffith and other famous people who have visited Manteo were fun to hear about. And it was absolutely gorgeous walking along the downtown waterfront with a full moon shining. Thank you, Chief D for making this so much fun and for sharing your extensive knowledge of this town you love, Manteo!
