He shares his relationship with the celebrities and many space heroes who made Manteo's history so unique. This tour has been featured on PBS show "NC Weekend". The original Manteo Walking Tour is back! Join Manteo's retired Police Chief for an evening sroll through the Historic Waterfront of Old Manteo. He shares his relationship with several celebrities and many space heroes who have made Manteo such a unique and special place to visit. Chief was fantastic! He puts his personal experiences and knowledge of Manteo (Roanoke Island) history together for a very enjoyable tour! You can really tell he has a love for history and Manteo. (And he lets you in on the secrets of the ghost tours if you ask him 😉) 5 out of 5 stars! Thanks Chief!

I expect a tour guide to be knowledgeable and able to answer basic questions. Chief exceeded expectations in history, science, local political/sociological issues and far reaching impact of this unique area of our country. What really set the experience apart was his enthusiastic love for this town, region, and country. He told us the tour was an hour and a half, longer if we had more questions. Our group had shrunk from 10 to 2 because of the threat of inclement weather which never materialized. Chief gave us over 2 hours and seemed to enjoy it as much as we did. We strongly recommend the tour to anyone.
